Going to pieces: 2006 documentary
The documentary features the leading names in the slasher world discussing their work and the impact it had on the world. This was a great source as it proved to teach me the side of the slasher genre from the perspective of the directors themselves.

this documentary gave me a great insight into the history of horror as the title would suggest, however focused very little on the theory behind it and was focused on all horror leaving slasher a mere mention.
Mark Kermode- The history of the Slasher Movie
A fantastic documentary that analyses major horror films in great detail. This is the ideal basis for my work.

An interesting insight into the origins of the slasher genre, looking at the definition of the movies and then referencing external work. However this is simply fan written, uses little if any theory and fails to produce a solid answer to the question "what was the first slasher movie?".

Helpful for specific character stereotypes in the genre. Also has an in-depth look at the history and produces a list of films in the order in which they were made, This is one of the best written sources so far.
Total Film: Nov 2001. (issue 58)
This issue of Total film features a list of banned movies, and is a brilliant source to look at the opinions of the censorship communities. It's focus is set on Texas Chainsaw massacre. This film is likely to become of of my key films to analyse alongside Halloween and Psycho.

Scream (Film)
A brilliant film that dives deep into the connotations of the Slasher world and not only mock them, but successfully apply them also. This is a brilliant piece of research which leads to better knowledge into slasher conventions and the political stance behind them
